Aspen's Field Trip

Aspen's 3rd grade class took a field trip to see the movie EARTH. We had a great time. If you like the shows Planet Earth you would like this movie. It had some really funny parts in it, the part Aspen and I loved was when these little birds were trying to fly for the first time. They really didn't fly they just fell out of the tree gracefully. I had a good time with her and took these pictures of Aspen and her good friend Abby!!!

11 Years of Bliss!!!

So Ryan and I just celebrated our 11 year anniversary on Saturday. Our wonderful friends Alanna and Devin watched our children. Thank you so much I don't know what I would do with out you guys. So we went to a restaurant we had never tried but had heard was good. It is called Mt. Fuji and is located in Fort Collins. We had to take off our shoes to sit at the table. You pick from a variety of platters such as: Beef, Chicken and Seafood. Ry and I love seafood so we got the seafood platter. Then you have a burner that has a soup base that you bring to a boil and add vegetables to make a rice noodle soup but you also cook your seafood in it for a minute or so. Then you could dip your seafood into all of these different kinds of sauces. It was really good!!! I am so glad we got to go on a date to celebrate our marriage.

Easter Fun!!!

So we had a great Easter. The Easter Bunny left an easter trail of fun filled eggs and of course an easter basket with cool outfits. That Easter Bunny sure knows Aspen loves her basketball shorts and Brit loves his soccer clothes. We went to church and then drove to Aurora to spend time with family and ate great food and we were lucky enough to have the Easter Bunny visit there with another easter egg hunt. My Mom surprised me with this beautiful Easter Lilly it smells so good! It was a fantastic day.

SpRiNg Time Flowers

I am not a green thumb at all. We mostly have rockbeds but we did leave room for our spring flowers. Here are some photos of what has came up so far. We still have tulips and a couple other flowers (that I don't know what they are called) that need to come up. These are so pretty and just put a smile on my face so I thought I would take some pictures. Best of all barely any maintenance. That is my kind of flower!!!

Coloring Easter Eggs

This week we have spring break and we spent some of it at my mom's house. She had a cataract removed so we went down there to help mom out. We had a great time seeing movies, going out to dinner, shopping and just visiting. So we decided to dye easter eggs and these are the pictures I took. We all had so much fun!!!

Aspen's School Concert

Aspen had a school concert on April 2nd. The 2nd and 3rd graders made up different poems about colors and then the 4th and 5th graders played the instruments to the poem. Aspen's class made up a poem to darkness. Here is how it went.

DARK
Dark night it was, Shadow I saw, Depressing night,
Darkness at night gave me a fright
Burnt Oreo, Silly Oil, Gorilla face
The Gorilla plays his records
Darkness at night, Gave me a fright, Nothing seems right
It made the gorilla nervous

They all had to wear black see the 1st picture of Aspen dressed in black. The second picture was everyone that performed. The last picture is Aspen's class dancing to their poem.

Ryan and Britain at a Denver Nuggets Game

Ryan at the last minute decided to take Britain to a Nuggets game because Brit has been so into playing and watching basketball. So he got the tickets off of Craig's List and he got 9 rows up from the court behind the Nuggets bench. They got there early to see if they could get some autographs and they ended up getting 3 of them they were: Scott Hastings, Dante Jones and Chris Anderson. Then Ryan noticed during the game they were sitting a few rows back from Kenyon Martin's mom. Ryan told Britain to go down and ask Kenyon's mom if he could have his headband after the game. Brit was hesitant at first but did it and she flagged her son down and he got an asst. mgr. to grab a new one out of the locker room and brought it to Kenyon's mom who brought it up to Brit and said "It's not Kenyon's but I hope it will do." Brit was thrilled and loves wearing it! What a great Father and Son day!!!

A trip to the hospital

Not a good day at the Paul home! School had early release day so I ended up with a 20 lb. turkey I had cooked for an activity for Aspen's class (Turkey anyone?). Well we got home and not long after that Ryan came home due to the weather. So he thought he would be a great Dad and play football with the kids! It was fun at first (see the 1st picture) well then Britain went inside and Aspen continued to play with Dad and ended up hitting her cheek on the brick retaining wall in the backyard!!! So we went to the emergency room and she had to have four stitches (see the after picture). She was so brave!!! I love her so much!!!

Mommy Daughter Time

Aspen's Choir had tickets for Disney on Ice so we decided to have a girls night out. We had so much fun watching the show. Aspen got some cotton candy and it came with the mask from The Incredibles. Doesn't she look cute? I really enjoyed spending some alone time with her. Here are some of the pictures we took there.

Eye Problems

I need to start this story from the beginning. Around thanksgiving I got a stye on my eye and then it turned into a small bump on my eye. Well the past couple of weeks the bump started getting bigger and it was causing my eye sight to be impaired. So I decided to go to the Doctors to check it out this past Thursday. She first started by flipping my eyelid out. Do you remember those kids who would flip their eyelids out and chase you around the playground. So thats what she did to me! It was disgusting then she told me I needed to go see an opthomologist. So I went and saw him he said I had two options first I could go home and do warm compresses on my eye, clean it with a special soap and put a antibiotic cream on it daily for two weeks and see if it goes away or I could do a procedure where he sticks a needle into my eyelid to deaden it and then flip my eyelid out and then cut a slit under my eyelid to let it drain the bump. Well I have never had to do anything with my eyes, I have always had great eye sight so this procedure freaked me out so I decided to go with the 1st option. I hope it works or I will have to do the surgery because it is really impairing my vision. So pray for me that the warm compresses work. A little sidenote he in a non chalant way said well youv'e went through labor so this won't be that bad. I would rather go through labor again!!!

My Grandma Chris turns 90

My Grandma Chris turned the big 90 on March 5th. My Mom and Aunt Jody had a big party for her on Saturday March 7th at the Methodist Church in Fort Morgan. We all had a great time and enjoyed seeing Grandma have a good time talking to family and friends. Here is a picture of her with Aspen and Britain. We love her so much!

Kindercourt at Frontier

At Frontier Academy they teach Core Knowledge. They just ended the section on continents and now they are learning Aesop Fables. As part of their grade they did a mock trial and the fable characters had to plead their case and say if either they learned their lesson or if they taught the other character a lesson. They had a judge, jury, bailiffs, attorneys, defendants and plaintiffs. Britain's fable was The Grasshopper and The Ants. Britain was the ant. He had to tell the fable and the lesson he taught the grasshopper. Which was "There is a time for work and a time for play." He did a great job and practically recited the fable word for word. They practiced in class and then they got to go to a real court and do it there.

Aspen and Friends at the movies...

When I was doing the post on High School Musical 3 I remembered I had these pictures on my phone that I never printed. So finally I figured how to download these pictures off my phone so I thought I would share them. When Aspen turned 9 she wanted to go see High School Musical 3 with a couple friends. So these are the pictures I took. Her friends in the picture are Abby, Heather and of course Britain. They had so much fun. I am glad Aspen has such good friends.

High School Musical 3

This week I bought HSM3 for the kids. We saw it at the movie theatre when it came out and we loved it so much that we decided to buy it. It is kind of a modern version of Grease. So the kids have watched the movie and listened to the CD so much they almost have all the songs memorized, just within a few days. We went to Denver to go to the Temple on Saturday and of course we had to bring the movie and watch it in the car. When the kids were watching it there is a part where the character Troy lifts his arms up and you can see all his armpit hair and Britains says " I really like Troy he is so cool but Mom I don't want hairy armpits like him". I thought it was so funny because he wants to be like Troy but he just doesn't want those hairy armpits.

So this year Aspen is in 3rd grade. It has been a big year for her. Britain got into Frontier Academy for Kindergarten and so Aspen got in too. So she had to make new friends and get used to a new school. She also decided to join the Frontier Basketball team. She has decided she is going to be a star at basketball. The first game she was just trying to get used to playing, the second game she finally got the hang of it and was playing great and the third game she finally scored two baskets and was all grins (the picture with her dad was after she made the baskets ). She is loving it and enjoying playing with her new friends.

Webkinz Craze

I had to post this because this has been a craze in my house for the last few months, collecting Webkinz. Britain got one from a birthday party and then Aspen had to have one and now we can't get enough. Aspen has 17 Webkinz and Britian has 14. They love naming them and creating their rooms. They like to spend part of their Saturdays playing games for webkinz dollars. So here is the picture of their collection.

Valentine's Day

So as Britain would say Happy Valentime's Day! We had a fun filled day with party and sweets. In Britain's class they did hearts decorated with tissue paper (which I was in charge of cutting for each child, lets just say my hand was hurting) they played bingo, decorated cookies and of course handed out valentines.

In Aspen's class they dipped different things in chocolate fondue and made coupons for their families. My contribution was the chocolate fondue which was the first time I had ever done it but it was so easy melting it in a crockpot with a little crisco. The kids had a great time with their parties and I am so glad I have the blessing of being home so I can share in these experiences.

Greeley Children's Chorale

Aspen auditioned this summer for the Greeley Children's Chorale and made it. We are so proud of her and all that she is doing this year. The chorale does three concerts a year and has the option to sing at extra activities, so far we have attended: Oktoberfest in Greeley and a UNC football game next we will be going to Disney on Ice. We have had fun watching her perform. This is a picture of her in one of her concert outfits.

Four Generations

After Christmas my family got together to celebrate with my grandma. Here is a photo we took of the four generations. What a great opportunity this was to get all four of us girls together. I am so grateful my daughter is able to get to know my wonderful Grandma Chris.
