Weekend in Utah

Ryan and I got to enjoy a weekend getaway to Utah. Gardell, Leann and our good friends The Moses' watched our children for us from Friday to Sunday. Ryan and I haven't had a road trip alone since we first got married. I was very excited to have Ryan all to myself so I could talk his ear off and he was just wishing I would go to sleep so he could listen to his i-pod. On Friday we went to Ryan's missionary reunion and he got to catch up with two of his favorite companions Brian Allen and Ross Walker. It was fun to hear stories and see Ryan reminisce about his mission. Then we got to stay in downtown Salt Lake City just blocks from Temple Square. We had tickets to the Sunday session of conference so we were excited to see that. Ryan got up at 4:00a.m. to stand in line for Saturday morning session, I of course showed up at the last minute as they were handing out the tickets and almost gave Ryan a heart attack because I barely made it. If your not in line you don't get a ticket! We sat on Temple Square and listened to the Saturday afternoon session, it was a beautiful day. Ryan also got to attend Priesthood Session thanks to Ross Walker. Sunday morning we woke up and went to conference and then left from there to continue our journey back to Greeley. It was a great weekend I could do it every time conference comes around.

Silly Band Craze!!!

The silly band craze took over at my house this summer when our friends from Canada came to visit Colorado. We hadn't heard of them yet, so of course we had to run out and find these silly rubber bands in all these crazy shapes. When Aspen and Britain started back to school everyone was wearing them and the trading began. I think it lasted a little over a month and then our school band them. We weren't surprised, but the kids sure had fun collecting them and trading them with friends. Oh the fads, wish I could think of something that could make me rich and end up collecting dust after it's all said and done.

First Day of School 2010

I can't believe Aspen is starting 5th grade, her last year to be the top dog until 12th grade. She was anxious and a little nervous but couldn't wait to see her friends. Britain was all excitement. He will be in 2nd grade and even though he doesn't have close friends in his class this year, he is excited for his teacher Mrs. Bowness. So we have to show off our shoes, backpacks and lunch boxes, because when you go to a school that has uniforms the only way to show your personality is through those little things. At the end of the day they both said the day was good! Another school year in progress!

Bats Bats Bats!!!

A member of our church Jason Shaw works with bats at UNC. So he let us come down and watch as he fed them apples and mangoes. We each held a baby bat and got to pet a larger one. I even did it even though there are no pictures to prove it.

Britain's friend Jay from school invited us out to their private lake. We had fun playing and enjoying are last days of summer.
