Aspen Meets Leann Rimes!!!

January 23, 2010

I won 2 tickets from a local radio station here in Greeley to see Leann Rimes at the Union Colony Civic Center. So I decided to take Aspen for some daddy/daughter time. We both had a great time. The concert was entertaining. Leann has an incredible voice. Aspen actually recognized more songs than she thought she would. The seats were pretty good for being up on the 3rd level. I wasn't complaining since it was free. After the concert Aspen and I took a stroll to the back of the UCCC. As we were walking up to the door we noticed the 3 vans carrying Leann and the band members were running and ready to go. Aspen said, "Hey, there is one of the guys that played the gold guitar!" He was walking to one of the cars. We continued to walk closer the the back door, where there was about 5 other people and about 6 security guards standing there. Not 30 seconds after we got to the door, Leann comes walking out with 2 guards. She stopped and gave out autographs to the few of us there. Aspen got Leann to sign her program and we also took this picture. I did not have a camera, but luckily I had my cell phone. The picture turned out OK. We also talked to her briefly saying that we loved her music and how we enjoyed her voice. She was very friendly to us. She was extremely nice to us and even wrapped her arm around Aspen for the picture. What a lucky thing we got to experience. Aspen and I had an awesome evening together.

Our Family at a UNC Bears Basketball Game

The UNC basketball game was so fun. The Bears won and the family had a great time. It is a great thing to do with your family especially if your kids have the Greeley sport shirt, they get in free. So my question is why does Britain have a hard time taking pictures, every time he looks like he is half asleep?

Britain's New Look

For awhile now Britain has been complaining about his eyes. He was always blinking and complaining that his eyes were bothering him. A few days back he went to the school nurse because they were bothering him so much. So I took him to the Optometrist and sure enough he needed reading glasses. The Doctor said for now he is o.k. with things that are far away but we will need to do yearly check ups. He also said that reading glasses are common for kids this age and sometimes they will grow out of it. Brit is excited to have them and we got him two different pairs. They look really cute on him but it is so hard to get a good picture of him these days for some reason. He read a book after he got the glasses and he said "These words looks so much better now"!

Girl Fun!!!

Aspen and her friend Abby Laycock had January 18th off of school and decided to have a play date. They played Mario Cart, e-mailed on the computer and last but not least did makeup on each other with their eyes closed. So of course we had to capture this moment on camera. Oh to be 10 again!!!!

CNA Testing Today!!!!

I am officially a Certified Nursing Assistant!!!! Yea I am so happy I passed the test. The written test was a little more trickier than what I was thinking. The skills part was easy because I ended up getting simple skills: Washing hands, Weight, Positioning on side, Feeding and putting on an elastic stocking. I am glad to be finished with the studying and worry. Now it is time to look for a job.

The Harlem Globetrotters

Britain and I had a great day at the Globetrotters. Roni gave Britain 2 tickets to go to the Harlem Globetrotters as a Christmas gift. We got to the Pepsi Center about 1 hour before it started. Britain was asked if he would like to go on to the court before the game for a quick slam dunk contest with 3 other kids. He was nervous but he did it. He received an authentic Harlem Globetrotters wrist band for participating. The event was awesome. Britain had a great time. He was in to the game for the entire 2 hours. He did not want to leave. He just could not believe all the tricks and skills these players had. He was cheering and cheering and really getting into the game. It was funny to watch. Lots of entertainment. After the game we walked around the perimeter of the court and got several autographs of the players. The last guy we got the autograph from was named "Dizzy". After signing our paper I asked if Britian could have his head band. Dizzy said "sure" and pulled it off his sweaty head and handed it to Britain. Brit was so excited. How fun is that. First the head band from Kenyan Martin at the last nuggets game and now an official Globetrotters headband right off the players head. Too much fun!

AnOtHeR TrIp To ThE ER!!!

Aspen's one wish for Christmas break was to go Ice Skating. We got too busy and couldn't go until today. So the whole family headed to The Ice Haus and 45 minutes later we were headed to the emergency room to get 5 stitches. My poor girl, I asked her if she is trying to see how many scars one girl can get on her face. She still hasn't beaten my four. This one is on her jaw line so hopefully after awhile it won't be too noticeable. She was very brave and I am glad it was nothing worse.

Britain's Toothless Grin!!!

His front tooth finally came out, it has been hanging there for a month or so now. I was calling him Snaggletooth. But last night he just pulled it out. I guess they always come out in good time.
